BREATH OF THE EARTH

Trees give breath
to those who live
in mountains high
and valleys low.
To creatures wild and tame -
the secretive cougar,
the colourful beetle,
destructive human beings.
Our precious tapestries of life
are bound together by trees.
Trees keep us alive;
why extinguish them?
