YNC Window Feeders & Other Great Gifts!

The Young Naturalists' Club of BC has recently added a Gifts & Products section to our website. We have some great new items that will have you seeing birds at your window or exploring nature in your backyard and beyond!

YNC WINDOW FEEDER - BIRD APPROVED!
We've been having lots of fun at our head office with the new window feeders.

They are made locally on Bowen Island of 100% sustainably harvested wood, they use no nails or glue, and snap together like a little puzzle.  The chickadees have gone crazy over them and so have we!

All proceeds benefit YNC and help get kids outside and enjoying nature!

YNC Launches Nature Mentors Circle!

YNC is pleased to launch the Nature Mentors Circle a program that matches local experts, educators and scientists interested in leading Explorer Day field trips with YN Clubs around the province of BC.

Whether you are new to the Young Naturalist Club or an experienced YN volunteer if you are interested in leading future Explorer Days for young naturalists  please join the Nature Mentors Circle.

By registering in the Nature Mentors Circle you will be tapping into opportunities to share your expertise, enthusiasm and passion for nature with a new generation of young naturalists in your community.  You will be able to identify your preference of topics and your availability when you register so our Club Leaders can provide well-matched opportunities

The information you provide will be used for the purpose of matching nature mentors with local Explorer Day opportunities.

YNC Vancouver - Rafting with Raptors

By Cole Gaerber, Age 11

On Sunday, November 25, 2012, members of YNC went rafting down the Squamish river, traveling 10 km in total and seeing hundreds of bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus). As soon as we arrived in Brackendale, our guide, Sebastian, dissected a female Chum Salmon and showed everyone the different body parts, including the roe (Eggs).

In November, Bugs R Us went on a Scavenger Hunt. We walked on the Witchy Trail. We looked for things, like something dead, something living, something covering something else. We left everything there. It was fun. Thank-you to the parents who came and the Nature people for leading us.
